Clubplanet contributor Emily Tan (also a contributor for DJ Times and on-air host for SIRIUS Satellite Radio) gives us the word on the best parties to hit this WMC season.
We made it through the long, dark winter, and it's that time of year again where mojitos flow in the humid heat, clothes peel-off to reveal tanned skin, and the best and brightest electronic dance music DJs and producers descend upon South Miami Beach for five-nights and six-days of nonstop parties. And, oh yeah, WMC offers seminars, panels and workshops for aspiring DJ/producers who come to WMC to actually learn something. Winter Music Conference, now in its 23rd year, is officially based at the Miami Beach Resort & Spa (formerly the Wyndham hotel). Unofficially, WMC takes place a little further down on South Beach, and increasingly each year, in downtown Miami (24-hour liquor licenses have their appeal).

Everyone has his or her unique experiences from Conference, and to me, what began over 15 years ago as "all play, no work," has gradually turned over the years into what it is now, "all work, no play." Don't get me wrong; I'm not complaining. If I feel frustrated because I want to race down to Vanguard Wednesday night to catch Josh Wink's annual Ovum party but realize I won't get there 'til 3:00am because I'll be live on-the-air hosting SIRIUS Satellite Radio's "Miami meltdown" party at Club Nikki until 2:30am, well, then.....that's just tough noogies on me! After all, I'll be on-the-air on SIRIUS (AREA 33) while George Acosta, the Scumfrog, Murk and DJs from Ministry Of Sound spin, with Paul van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold both dropping-by to jump on-the-air with me, so it's not exactly a chore.

Someday, I'll slow-down. But until then, these are my Top 10 "Must Attend" Events for WMC 2008. Enjoy!

1) SIRIUS Satellite Radio's Live Broadcast Lounge @ The Raleigh Hotel, Penthouse.
Featuring a steady lineup of the world's most renown DJ/producers giving live, on-the-fly interviews with AREA 33 on-air personality, yours truly, Emily Tan. Noon - 4:00pm on Wednesday 3/26, Thursday 3/27 and Friday 3/28 of WMC. 3) WTF? Launch Party @ Hotel Gansevoort South (roof) on Wednesday 3/26, 11am - 6pm.
The much-hyped, long-awaited offical "WTF?" launch party at one of Miami's most luxurious addresses. WTF? is the new EDM act comprised of international rock icon, Tommy Lee, hip-hop DJ-turned-electro-house DJ, Aero, digital wunderkind, Deadmau5, and production whiz, Steve Duda.
