Personal issues concerning what, we're not sure. RA will keep you updated if anything further is announced regarding this.<br /><br />It isn't all doom and gloom for Field Day, however, as they've got a raft of new acts that have been added to the bill. Pop-princess Ladyhawke joins JD Samson of Le Tigre and German tech-house DJ <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=875">Oliver Huntemann</a> on the line-up, whilst The Bag Raiders will also play live.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/local.aspx?ai=1"><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/flags/au.gif" alt="Sydney, Australia" border="0" height="15" width="22" /></a> <span class="grey">Jan 01</span> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=66077" class="local" title="Field Day 2009, Domain, The, Sydney">Field Day 2009, The Domain, Sydney</a><br /><br /><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/global/icon-link.gif" alt="link" border="0" height="9" width="12" /> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=672"><b>DJ Page: Trentemøller</b></a>Try This Dish Radio Showhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06859640652911577054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930837211389301743.post-10130788881332608922008-11-18T09:38:00.003-06:002008-11-18T09:41:40.351-06:00Juan Maclean launches new live project<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/profiles/juanmaclean.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 312px; height: 210px;" src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/profiles/juanmaclean.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=839">Juan Maclean</a> will be performing a special audio/visual live show at Berlin's Scala on Thursday 20th November.<br /><br />His 'Love Acid' project is a collaboration with Alison Childs, who is the resident video artist for the Berlin's Donuts night. Berlin's Watergate venue is where the celebrations begin, and they've got an all-star line-up of <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=503">Ricardo Villalobos</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=587">Michael Mayer</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=748">Apparat</a>. (Warp's latest African signing Mujava also plays his debut Berlin show there.)<br /><br /><i>Groove</i> take the party to Hamburg's NeibKlub the night after, where guests include <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=379">Carl Craig</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=773">Radio Slave</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=3559">Shed</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=995">Stefan Goldmann</a>. Just as you think that things can't really get more impressive, they're keeping their stamina up and travelling to Munich, where they've lured <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=657">Isolee</a> into playing live, supported by <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=698">Âme</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2170">Christian Prommer</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=773">Radio Slave</a> yet again. Three events in three days—surely that's enough for the <i>Groove</i> guys?<br /><br />Seemingly not, as the following weekend sees them take over two adjoining Frankfurt clubs in the same night, opening both up to create a massive three-room party. The legendary Robert-Johnson club will host a live set from the <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=4559">Arto Mwambé</a> project, as well as DJ sets from <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=758">Dixon</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=671">Ewan Pearson</a>. It's next door neighbour is MTW, which will see turns on the decks from <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=176">Luke Slater</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1515">Marcel Dettmann</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2111">Federico Molinari</a> whilst <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2107">Johnny D</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=841">Modeselektor</a> will also play live.<br /><br />With parties as enticing as this being thrown for their 19th birthday, who knows what they're going to do next year for their 20th?<br /><br /><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/local.aspx?ai=34"><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/flags/de.gif" alt="Berlin, Germany" border="0" height="15" width="22" /></a> <span class="grey">Dec 04</span> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=72109" class="local" title="19 Jahre Groove, Watergate, Berlin">19 Jahre Groove, Watergate, Berlin</a><br /><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/local.aspx?ai=148"><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/flags/de.gif" alt="Hamburg, Germany" border="0" height="15" width="22" /></a> <span class="grey">Dec 05</span> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=72112" class="local" title="19 Jahre Groove, NeidKlub, Hamburg">19 Jahre Groove, NeidKlub, Hamburg</a><br /><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/local.aspx?ai=151"><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/flags/de.gif" alt="Munich, Germany" border="0" height="15" width="22" /></a> <span class="grey">Dec 06</span> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=72113" class="local" title="19 Jahre Groove, Die Registratur, Munich">19 Jahre Groove, Die Registratur, Munich</a><br /><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/local.aspx?ai=147"><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/flags/de.gif" alt="Frankfurt, Germany" border="0" height="15" width="22" /></a> <span class="grey">Dec 13</span> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=72107" class="local" title="19 Jahre Groove, Robert-Johnson, Frankfurt">19 Jahre Groove, Robert-Johnson, Frankfurt</a>Try This Dish Radio Showhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06859640652911577054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930837211389301743.post-69913086291671129332008-11-18T09:31:00.002-06:002008-11-18T09:34:47.816-06:00BPM Festival announces initial line-up<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/profiles/leeburridge.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 312px; height: 210px;" src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/profiles/leeburridge.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">January's BPM Festival has announced the initial names on its line-up, including <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?id=129">current RA podcaster</a> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=61">Lee Burridge</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=627">Damian Lazarus</a>.<br /><br />BPM takes place in the Playa del Carmen region, which is located on the Caribbean coast of Mexico. Whether you're into house, techno, disco, dubstep or drum & bass, there'll be plenty for you to check out over the course of the week long event. The organisers have got their cheque book out and managed to secure <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=52">Fatboy Slim</a> for a rare headline set, while elsewhere you can hear DJ sets from Grandmaster Flash, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=206">James Zabiela</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=750">Claude VonStroke</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=534">Nic Fanciulli</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=3270">Greg Wilson</a>, Reverso 68, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=772">Lindstrøm</a>, Chase & Status, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=536">High Contrast</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=981">Skream</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1851">Benga</a> and many others. For those sick of seeing DJs, the live line-up is bigger than ever this time around, with artists booked including Dizzee Rascal, Beardyman and The Whip.<br /><br />There's so much going on during the week that it doesn't seem like there'll be much time for anyone to go skiing. As a result, you should expect to see Judge and Gilles breaking out their best pirate costumes and, if you want to fit in, you'll most likely have to have your own as well.<br /><br />That'll be easier than you think, though, as Alton Towers offers a nice little hotel accommodation package, including spa suites and water park availability for those not in the clubbing mood. Act fast, though, and be ready to call in sick for Monday. Our excuse? As well as being the first appearance of Steve Coogan's now famous Alan Partridge character, the show was later adapted into a TV news format for Morris' <i>The Day Today</i> show.<br /><br />Previously the only commercial release of the show was a double cassette that contained just two of the six hours of broadcasted material. This was due to a legal dispute with co-writers Stewart Lee and Richard Herring, as all of the parts that they'd had a hand in writing were chopped out of that release. It seems like this has all been resolved now, as Warp are set to release the entire two series as two 4xCD boxsets. Those who can't wait for Morris' forthcoming satire on Jihadi Muslims (one that Morris has even learned Arabic to try and tackle) would be well advised to check this comprehensive collection out.<br /><br /><i>Warp will release </i>On The Hour <i>on November 24th.</i><br /><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/global/icon-link.gif" alt="link" border="0" height="9" width="12" /> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/record-label.aspx?id=353"><b>Label: Warp Records</b></a>Try This Dish Radio Showhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06859640652911577054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930837211389301743.post-59790946599467385602008-11-15T23:40:00.000-06:002008-11-15T23:40:00.759-06:00Richie Hawtin headlines The End<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/profiles/richiehawtin.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 312px; height: 210px;" src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/profiles/richiehawtin.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>M_nus boss <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=55">Richie Hawtin</a> is set to headline The End on Saturday 27th December.<br /><br />Unless he gets booked to play again before the West London club closes its doors for good on 24th of January (which is not impossible, but unlikely), this will be the last time that you'll have the chance to see Hawtin at <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/club-detail.aspx?id=465">The End</a>. M_nus will be taking over the main room with Richie taking the headlining slot, with a supporting cast yet to be announced. After the disastrous sound problems that plagued the main room of the Contakt event at SEOne, fans will be thankful that M_nus' next visit to the capital will take full advantage of The End's more than adequate soundsystem.<br /><br />The night won't be all bleepy minimal techno, however, as <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=232">Layo</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=339">Mr C</a> will be playing all night in the AKA Bar. And there's nothing more annoying than buying your monthly fix of vinyl, only to have something you really wanted hit the stores the day after you've put through your order. That's why we at RA have decided to give you a list of upcoming albums and singles so you can keep on top of everything that's being put out on a month-to-month basis.<br /><br />Of course, while we've tried our best to keep all the information as accurate as possible, delays may mean that the release dates aren't 100% correct so keep that in mind when browsing. It isn't a comprehensive list of everything coming out; more of a selection of key releases for the month. That said, any label/artist who doesn't see their particular release in this list, should feel free to e-mail us at pressreleases AT residentadvisor.net to get their tunes listed for this <i>and</i> upcoming months. A series of all-day bank holiday events witnessed queues from mid-afternoon, dress-up shenanigans and a room full of lost clubbers in the maze at our ‘Get Lost’ party.</p>Try This Dish Radio Showhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06859640652911577054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930837211389301743.post-9474864273986889032008-11-15T23:20:00.000-06:002008-11-15T23:20:00.233-06:00MXP4Cafe is New Virutal Meeting Place for Interactive Digital Musicians<div class="post">Musinaut, the Paris-based company behind the revolutionary new digital audio format MXP4, today unveils its new artist community, MXP4Café. <p>MXP4Café www.mxp4.com/community will act as a virtual meeting place where forward thinking artists can drop and share interactive MXP4 music files with fellow musicians. But despite these dance music run-ins, the vinyl market for his work has remained low apparently.<br /><br />Or that's the thinking by Mute, we guess, based on their decision to re-release Gonzalez's work on vinyl. Whatever the reason, each full-length will be a 2x12 (aside from <i>Digital Shades Vol. 1</i> which will appear for the first time on the format) and include a bonus CD. To promote the records, as RA previously reported, M83 will be going on a <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=9486">November tour</a> throughout the United States.<br /><br /><i>Mute will release M83's </i>Saturdays=Youth<i>, </i>Digital Shades Vol. 1<i>, </i>Before the Dawn Heals Us<i>, </i>Dead Cities, Red Seas, and Lost Ghosts<i> and </i>M83<i> on vinyl on November 25, 2008.</i><br /><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/global/icon-link.gif" alt="link" border="0" height="9" width="12" /> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2191"><b>DJ Page: M83</b></a>Try This Dish Radio Showhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06859640652911577054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930837211389301743.post-18915257676893387722008-11-13T10:32:00.001-06:002008-11-13T10:34:33.159-06:00Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 hits US November 28th for $800<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://static.technorati.com/asset/img/b/6/7/9/b67903b1f6b08895018f42202973f8cc.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 199px; height: 138px;" src="http://static.technorati.com/asset/img/b/6/7/9/b67903b1f6b08895018f42202973f8cc.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Sony Ericsson have finally confirmed the US launch date for their XPERIA X1 smartphone. When we talked with Moeller earlier this week over the phone, Moeller told us as much, saying that he was excited to be opening up for the duo and that he'd be playing some tracks from his upcoming EP on Apnea, as well as from his April 2009 full-length, <i>Jazz Junk Safari</i>, on Third Ear Recordings. If you can't wait that long, though, you can always grab Moeller's most recent offering under his Beat Pharmacy alias, <i>Wikkid Times</i>, which was <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=9881">released today</a> on Wave.<br /><br /><b><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=69073">Los Angeles</a></b>: While New York will only see man take to the warm-up spot, Los Angeles boasts four for the coveted job. <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2703">Lee Foss</a> is set to play the Avalon's Honey Lounge from 10 PM until midnight when the previously announced trio that makes up <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1095">Droog</a>—Andrei Osyka, Brett Griffin and Justin Sloe—will take to the decks to further warm up the crowd in advance of the main event. Foss is a late addition to the line-up, and so is <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1699">Acid Circus</a>, but we're guessing that few people will be sad to hear that the Brothers Vargas will be closing the night out once Dixon and Beyer take their final bow.<br /><br /><b><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=69753">San Francisco</a></b>: From Los Angeles, the boys will be making their way up the coast of California to San Francisco for an epic day party with everyone's favorite techno party souvenir conceptualists, the Cheap Sunglasses crew—AKA <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=4279">Crazy Larry</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1954">Taimur</a>. We caught up with the latter earlier this week to give us the lowdown on what the duo might have in store after the <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=45650">cheap sunglasses</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=53291">temporary tattoos</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=63068">excuses to call off at work</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=62459">earbuds</a>. Taimur told us that cheap sunglasses would once again be the order of the day, but this time with a slight change to mark the event. Limited edition sunglasses? Sounds like techno to us.<br /><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/global/icon-link.gif" alt="link" border="0" height="9" width="12" /> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=758"><b>DJ Page: Dixon</b></a>Try This Dish Radio Showhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06859640652911577054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930837211389301743.post-80111481383954224582008-11-13T00:54:00.000-06:002008-11-13T00:54:00.912-06:00secretsundaze goes inside for the winter<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/profiles/gilessmith.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 312px; height: 210px;" src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/profiles/gilessmith.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />secretsundaze has announced a winter series of dates to be held in the capital.<br /><br />The secretsundaze crew won't be hibernating this winter. Instead, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1508">Giles Smith</a> and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2153">James Priestley</a> have planned a limited schedule of events called secretsundaze & friends, which will bring even more deep house to London.<br /><br />The duo's impeccable selection means that the series of dates will kick off this weekend with <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1018">Argy</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2574">Glimpse</a> and Drumpoet Community regulars <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2296">Quarion</a> and Lexx holding things down (with a Disco Bloodbath promised in the third room), while December's event will feature <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=807">Shinedoe</a>, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=933">2000 and One</a>, and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1850">Kabale und Liebe</a> , along with <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=4522">Brothers' Vibe</a>. As Smith tells it, the winter parties will differ from the usual shindigs in size, so they'll be able to "invite more guests and dig a little deeper, getting whole crews to come in."<br /><br />The question on the minds of those who can't make it to London, though, is plans regarding getting in another DJ to celebrate the opening of yet another ss summer season with a mix, ala <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=762">Tobi Neumann</a> earlier this year. Priestley isn't quite sure yet: "Perhaps is probably the best answer I can give you right now. The compilation market is tougher than ever at the moment and as much as we love doing the compilation side of things, we need to make sure that it makes sense financially for us too." Which is a clarion call to come support the party in person if we ever heard one.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/local.aspx?ai=13"><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/flags/uk.gif" alt="London, United Kingdom" border="0" height="15" width="22" /></a> <span class="grey">Nov 15</span> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/event-detail.aspx?id=70889" class="local" title="Secretsundaze, Scala, The, London">Secretsundaze, The Scala, London</a><br /><br /><img src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/global/icon-link.gif" alt="link" border="0" height="9" width="12" /> <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=1018"><b>DJ Page: Argy</b></a>Try This Dish Radio Showhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06859640652911577054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4930837211389301743.post-9676573603980350712008-11-13T00:52:00.000-06:002008-11-13T00:52:00.320-06:00Compost get fresh<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/news/2008/compost300.gif"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 312px; height: 210px;" src="http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/news/2008/compost300.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Compost are due to release a new label compilation, <i>Freshly Composted Vol. 3</i>, in January of next year.<br /><br />The Munich based label is celebrating the fact that they have now had 300 catalogue numbers with a new label compilation, due for release early next year. <i>Freshly Composted Vol. 3</i> rounds up some of the highlights of the last two years, most of which haven't seen the light of day on CD until now. These include <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2352">I:Cube</a>'s sunkissed remix of Karma, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=755">Ripperton</a>'s mix of Beanfield and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=110">Charles Webster</a>'s contribution to <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=2162">Robert Owens</a>' solo album. Fans who own these already need not despair, as Compost have included three previously unreleased tracks from Alif Tree, Part Time Heroes and <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-page.aspx?id=4681">Shahrokh</a> Sound Of K (again featuring Robert Owens on vocal duties).<br /><br /><u>Tracklist</u><br />01. Babicz has produced under various guises (most notably Rob Acid) since the early '90s on labels such as Kompakt and Treibstoff, and will play a full live set at each of the dates.
