The recently rehab-ed Amy Winehouse has been denied a visa to enter the USA, ruling her out of attending the Grammys. However, she has reportedly been asked to record the theme song for Bond 22 – provided she stays clean.
Winehouse is up for six awards at the Grammys, but the American embassy in London gave her the big “no, no, no”.
A statement from the singer’s publicist reads, “Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery. There will of course be other opportunities and she very much looks forward to visiting America in the near future.”
Less official are the reports that Winehouse has been offered the James Bond theme on the series’ upcoming instalment Quantum of Solace. The Sun dubiously called on an “insider” to spill that the soulstress will get the gig only if she stays clean.
”[The film] will have a dark and moody feel so Amy would be absolutely perfect,” says the unnamed source. “It’s another fantastic carrot being dangled to encourage her to give up drugs.”
