Sabrina - Louis Possenti and Bill Kelly.

Sabrina - 1985

B. FOCUS ON THE MISSION:
TEW Radio Factor - What is the Concept be hide the conference and how has that changed over the years?
Sabrina - Winter Music Conference is a music industry convention that provides a platform that has served to springboard artists, DJs, and dance music professionals from all over the world to successful heights; thereby making it the place where many of the major deals of the year begin. WMC showcases top international talent, the newest technological developments, and celebrates dance music as a cultural art form. The attendance of the first WMC was 90 delegates; it now reaches over 4,500 delegates. Leading into it’s 23rd year and with over 45,000 people pouring into Miami WMC week, Winter Music Conference has established itself as the premier music conference for the world.
TEW Radio Factor - How has the Winter Music Conference impacted the Electronic Dance Music Industry?
Sabrina - It was started as a gathering place for professionals in the dance community and continues to do so. It’s where new deals are brokered, new records are launched, and where people can reflect on the state of the Industry and create new strategies for the upcoming year. One of our main goals is to be both a networking source and information/education source for people at every level in the industry.

Sabrina - We offer a series of discounted rates throughout the months preceding WMC but the Walk-up rate (actual cost of registration) is $440.00.

Over 10,000 ballots are cast to vote for the most innovative and elite artists, producers, promoters, remixers, and record labels in the industry. Industry professionals gather to pay tribute to those who achieved exceptional acclaim throughout the course of the previous year.

TEW Radio Factor - What kind of way's can a company Advertise & Exhibit at the WMC?
Sabrina - We have a ton of marketing options for companies including print ads in The Guide, The List, Exhibit Hall Stands, Sample Sack Inserts and lots of branding opportunities. Our website is extremely inclusive and explanatory in terms of marketing offerings.
TEW Radio Factor - How can a company or individuals Advertise & Exhibit at the WMC?
Sabrina - We have Demo Listening workshops, a CD Compilation, DJ Spin-off, a DVD Wall and much more.
TEW Radio Factor - How can up and coming dj's get involved with the WMC?
Sabrina - My best advice is just to jump in! Come to WMC armed with demos, business cards, and flyers. The general rule of WMC is- you get out what you put in. If a delegate attends panels, asks questions, gets business cards, shakes hands, etc. They can walk away with a ton from WMC. We create a situation where it is all there for you if you want it- after that it’s up to you.

Everyone has his or her unique experiences from Conference, and to me, what began over 15 years ago as "all play, no work," has gradually turned over the years into what it is now, "all work, no play." Don't get me wrong; I'm not complaining. If I feel frustrated because I want to race down to Vanguard Wednesday night to catch Josh Wink's annual Ovum party but realize I won't get there 'til 3:00am because I'll be live on-the-air hosting SIRIUS Satellite Radio's "Miami meltdown" party at Club Nikki until 2:30am, well, then.....that's just tough noogies on me! After all, I'll be on-the-air on SIRIUS (AREA 33) while George Acosta, the Scumfrog, Murk and DJs from Ministry Of Sound spin, with Paul van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold both dropping-by to jump on-the-air with me, so it's not exactly a chore.
3) WTF? Launch Party @ Hotel Gansevoort South (roof) on Wednesday 3/26, 11am - 6pm.
