Set against the backdrop of enormous coal digging machines, Melt! is a unique music festival that happens every year at Ferropolis, a mine now turned into an amusement park, near Lake Gremmin in Germany. With a strongly local crowd, a fine lineup of acts and of course that unusual location, Melt! is a good pick for an unusual summer festival to add to the calendar.
This year Melt! have added a third day to the festivities, with Björk headlining the final night on Sunday July 20th. The lineup is a mix of genres: Headlining rock bands include Björk, Franz Ferdinand, The Editors, Ben Folds Five and The Gossip, while the electronic side is represented by label showcases from Bpitch Control (Ellen Allien, Modeselektor), Kompakt (Supermayer, Burger/Voigt, Gui Boratto) as well as Booka Shade, Alter Ego, Miss Kittin and Efdemin. More names to be announced soon.
